Design Time: A Touch of French Elegance for the New Year

G’day everyone – Joey here 😀

My first kit of every new year always seems to have a floral theme with a distinctly French touch. This year, I’ve been immersing myself in the opulence of French fashion from the 18th century and the grandeur of formal gardens. Imagine the elegance of Marie Antoinette, with her elaborate gowns and towering wigs, strolling through the meticulously designed gardens of Versailles. This vision has been my inspiration for the past few months.

I’ve been playing around with the idea of capturing the essence of these formal gardens—the perfectly trimmed hedges, the symmetrical layouts, and the vibrant, blooming flowers. Coupling this with the flamboyant fashion of the time, my mind conjures images of extravagant wigs adorned with flowers and ribbons, gowns with intricate embroidery, and the overall air of refined elegance.

It’s been a delightful yet challenging journey, as I wasn’t entirely sure where this creative path would lead me. But slowly, it’s all starting to come together. A few more weeks of work and I’ll have a finished product that hopefully captures the timeless beauty and sophistication of French gardens and fashion.

Hope you all are having a creative weekend — luvs ya – Joey 🩷💙
