A Day of Grungy Fun: Crafting a Faux Leather Notebook
G’day everyone .. Joey here 😊
Today was one of those delightfully messy, inky days that I live for. I created a faux leather notebook with a grungy yet charming twist. Here’s a peek into my process and the fun challenge it was to step out of my usual crafting comfort zone.
The Grungy Fun Begins
My journey started with boot polish. Yes, you read that right—boot polish! It turns out it’s the perfect medium to give a piece of paper that rich, leathery look. After carefully applying the polish, I crafted a belly band closure to keep the notebook secure.
Adding a Floral Touch
Once the notebook itself was complete, I decided to add a touch of elegance using the floral prompt. I lined the inside with floral paper, creating a beautiful contrast with the grungy exterior. This combination of rough and delicate is a nice touch.

Inky Clusters and Pencil Sketches
To add some personal flair, I made inky drippy clusters and included flower pencil sketches on random pages throughout the notebook. The sketches added a whimsical element .
Embracing the Challenge
Neutral tones are not usually my go-to palette, so this project was a refreshing challenge. It pushed me to explore new techniques and styles, which is always a rewarding experience.
A Special Thanks
So, there you have it—a day of inky, grungy fun that led to the creation of a unique and personalized faux leather notebook. If you haven’t tried a project like this before, I highly recommend it. It’s a wonderfully messy, creative journey that you won’t regret.
