Domestic Goods: Rosewater Tonic

I wandered through the Domestic Goods section this afternoon, where the shelves always seem to hum with their own soft history. Among the glassware and paper relics stood the Rosewater Tonic — slender, pale aqua, and quietly luminous. Its chromolithograph label, worn at the edges, still holds the memory of roses pressed between pages and the gentle rituals of a well‑kept home.

There is a tenderness in these old bottles. Someone once believed that even a simple tonic deserved beauty — scrollwork curling like ivy, roses blooming eternally on aged paper, lettering engraved with care. I imagine it resting on a washstand, beside a porcelain bowl, the faint perfume of rosewater lingering long after the stopper was replaced.

This piece feels like the first breath of the Domestic Goods collection — a reminder that the smallest objects often carry the deepest sense of home. It sits comfortably here among soaps, receipts, portraits, and remedies, as though the Emporium itself remembers the quiet grace of everyday life.
