This month, we are stepping into a world of cogs, gears, and clever contraptions with our latest project: The Steampunk Inventor’s Dossier! ⚙️🎩 This is an 7-page interactive kit that takes you deep into the mysterious world of the Ministry of Circumlocation.
Here is a little look at what’s packed inside🛠️:
- Rich Vintage Palette: The entire design is built around the gorgeous, deep tones of Deep Burgundy, Antique Gold, and Forest Green. 🎨
- Three-Tiered Filing System: Features faux-drawers labeled Top Secret, Forgotten, and Loose Screws. These hold custom identification cards for the crew, including the brilliant Professor Barnaby Bellows! 🗂️👴
- Interactive Elements: The interior includes a “Launch Day” volvelle to track flight statuses (ranging from a minor “Canopy Wobble” to a full “Emergency Descent” 🚨) and a hot air balloon that actually rises right up the page! 🎈✨
- Father’s Day Options: This dossier also includes optional labels like “Chief of the Department of Dads” and “World’s Best Inventor”, making it the perfect unique gift for Father’s Day! 🎁👴

✂️ What’s Been Happening in the Studio
- The Butterfly Ephemera Project 🦋
I am still chipping away at this special project for our 5,000 YouTube subscriber giveaway! It’s a design-heavy project with plenty of fussy cutting, but I’m absolutely loving the process. We are still a little way off from that milestone, so if you’d like to help me get there (and get your hands on these butterflies!), I’d love to have you subscribe to the channel! 🥰 - May’s Grungy Tag Challenge: “Weave” 🌊⛵
The prompt “Weave” took me in a completely nautical direction with Woven Tides – The Captain’s Loss. This project explores maritime history through the eyes of an old Captain in 1788, focusing on the textures of wreckage and the stories left behind.- I used woven hessian strips for decoration and inked calico to build a woven “Jacob’s Ladder” (Magic Wallet) interactive feature.
- The piece is finished off with aged nautical charts, a “Legend of the Mermaid” 🧜♀️, and sea-stained ephemera to capture that gritty, salt-heavy atmosphere. ⚓🧭
